The full name of this species is the Aphaenogaster rudis. They are not widespeard in the mid-atlantic regions of the United States, but they do exist in this region. This species of ant is not an invasive species.

These ants are a non-invasive species of ant. They live in desensly wooded areas and usually reside under rocks and in dirt. These ants are victims of most of the invasive spcies that reside in the area. They help break down decaying wood, leaves, and other forestry.
